Description
This whimsical stoneware garden sculpture will look so good in a protected corner of your garden. There is a lot going on in this stabile. Meant to represent the ocean, the sculpture has a bird bath, wind chimes, mobile, pinwheel, all as components of this fun decoration. The sculpture is about 5 feet tall in all. The stoneware pieces are mounted on a 6 foot tall 5/8 inch steel rod. The bottom 2 feet of the rod are bare so that the sculpture can be planted in the
ground. About every 3 pieces there is a nut and washer so that the weight of the pieces is spread throughout the rod.
The first big piece on the bottom is cylindrical and about 8 inches tall. It is glazed white with stripes of blue and green that have dripped and moved representing the ocean. A small connector piece about 3 inches tall comes next. On top of that is another cylindrical piece glazed similarly as the first piece but from it are small fish mounted on copper wires circling the piece. Suspended above, from copper wires, are larger fish. The copper wires are not glued, so the angle fo these fish can be changed. This is the mobile part of the sculpture.
Above this piece is a tentacled piece with 12 legs. It is glazed a glossy white, and though it does not move, it has a lot of movement in it!
Above this piece is another connector, then cylindrical piece. This piece is glazed similarly to the others, with white and drippy stripes of blue and green. From this piece, circles of brown clay, filled with melted blue glass. Above that are 4 jellyfish wind chimes. They make a gentle sound in a light wind. The chimes are suspended with plastic coated bead wire, there are also beaded threads coming off the jelly fish, to simulate the look of a real jelly fish. The bottom of the beaded threads have larger beads that also make a pleasant chiming noise when they move in a breeze.
Above that piece, is another connector piece, and then a pinwheel piece. Made from aluminum spray painted blue, mounted on copper wire and inserted into the ceramic piece, under a heavier wind, it should move. Hidden under the ceramic pieces is lazy susan hard ware.
Above it all is a shallow bowl which represents the top of the ocean under which the fish swim. Droplets of water are suspended above the bowl.
This piece is currently mounted in a hunk of oak, into which a drilled a hole for the metal rod. This piece does not come with the oak, because it should be cemented into the ground, but if you really want the oak, too, I can part with it
If you want to buy this sculpture, it will be stored in boxes for pick up, or delivered , if local. It will be up to you to reassemble it. It shouldn’t take more than an hour to put it back together. I will leave a picture so you know what order to put the pieces. If you are going to leave it out for the winter, the mobile pieces should be removed, and the rest of it covered.
